The Inner Sky

In the forest’s dark embrace,
Beneath the moon’s silver face,
A mountain lion, fierce and wild,
Moved along with stealth and might.

A piercing wail, a fearsome call,
Echoing through the mountains tall.
A traveler lost in the night,
Found solace in confronting the fright.

The lion, guardian of the mountain mire,
Eyes aflame like amber fire.
With a nod, the lion turned away,
Allowing the journey to continue without delay.

When fear takes hold of the heart,
Stand firm and face it, do not depart,
For courage comes not from absence of fear,
It comes from facing it with resolve and cheer.
